Saffron’s Flower Farm
Fourteen Canalside members and friends had a wonderful time visiting Saffron’s Flower Farm and learning how to make beautiful arrangements.

Murder Mystery Night
‘My Big Fat Greek Deading’, performed by our very own members, required us to solve an especially Corfu-sing’ case.
Canalside WI Bursaries
In February, Karen Morgan, winner of one of our 2023 bursaries, attended a jewellery making workshop at Thorpe and Brown in Burbage.
Alongside fellow WI member and friend, Justine, they had a wonderful time learning how to make a silver bracelet.
Jain Temple
In February, a visit to the spectacular Jain Temple, Leicester, the first to be consecrated in the Western world.
Taste Restaurant
Members enjoyed a very good lunch in this restaurant, located in Freeman’s Park Campus of Leicester College, prepared and served by the students.
Broughton Castle
A June visit to this 14th century moated manor house near Banbury.
Members enjoyed roof top views of stunning scenery and the magnificent Tudor Garden.
D-Day 80
We were joined by local actors, Craigie and Daniel Morrison, for a 1940’s themed evening in memory of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.

NFWI Resolutions
Our Canalside WI delegate will be attending the NFWI Annual Meeting in Cardiff in May 2023 to vote on the resolution, Clean rivers for people and wildlife.
ABBA Evening
Great Fun was had by all at an ABBA themed party!
Competitions
The Watling Group Annual Meeting in March 2019. Celebrity auctioneer, Charles Hanson, presents the Watling Group Shield to Vicky Gilbert for winning the future heirloom competition with her Maundy Money.
